Vitamins, Minerals and Supplements

Although most customers should be able to meet their dietary needs through a balanced and varied diet, some may be looking to supplement this, and certain groups have nutritional requirements that cannot be met through diet alone. Most people in the UK don't eat enough fruit, vegetables, oily fish or fibre,1 and results from The National Diet and Nutrition Survey (published March 2018) show that:

  • Just 13 per cent of men and four per cent of women aged 29-64 consume sufficient fibre
  • Only around 30 per cent of those aged 65-74 get their '5-a-day' of fruit and vegetables.2

  • Which customers may benefit from taking dietary supplements
  • Particular supplements that fit with a customer's diet, e.g. vegan/gluten free.

There is a growing trend to move away from traditional tablet formulations of vitamins and supplements to different formats, such as 'gummies' and sprays.
