Important notice: Breastfeeding is the best way to nourish your baby. Kendamil Follow-On Milk should not be used as a substitute for breast milk during the first six months of life. We recommend that you only use Kendamil Organic Follow-On Milk on the advice of your doctor, pharmacist, midwife, health visitor, public health nurse, dietitian or other healthcare specialist, as part of a mixed diet, based on baby's individual needs. When bottle feeding do not allow prolonged contact of milk feeds with your baby's teeth as this increases the risk of tooth decay. Make sure your baby's teeth are cleaned each night after the last feed.

MY PERFECT PHARMACY

My Perfect Pharmacy is an opportunity to reset our operational standards, making sure everything is running smoothly and efficiently, so you have more time to spend with patients that need care.

The My Perfect Pharmacy initiative has pulled together all the best practice in our stores into one place to give a consistent, sustainable standard across all pharmacies. You've all done a fantastic job working through the diagnostic and creating and delivering your action plans over the last month.

A key way to help keep your teams engaged is to focus on the 'why'. Why follow the guidance for stock management? Why should the dispensary be clutter-free? Having an efficient pharmacy will benefit teams and the business as a whole. It also provides a great platform for further growth in items and services. Encourage the team to think about the patients behind the operational processes and how this will benefit them.

Now we've reached August, your action plans will be signed off by your Area Manager and it's time for My Perfect Pharmacy Week. By My Perfect Pharmacy Week, all our pharmacies will be meeting and sustaining the standards set out by the initiative - which is definitely cause for celebration. Share your pictures on Yammer using #MyPerfectPharmacy so we can celebrate your achievements.

Through your effort and commitment to working on your My Perfect Pharmacy action plans, all our pharmacies will be operationally sound and perfectly set up to deliver future initiatives, such as the flu vaccination service.

For more information on My Perfect Pharmacy, visit the My Perfect Pharmacy hub on BootsLive or Pharmacy Unscripted, where you can find videos featuring our stores and regional teams sharing their stories.

BACK TO SCHOOL SERVICES

The new term is fast approaching, and whether your customers are getting ready to go back to primary school or university, we can support them with vaccination services for Chickenpox, HPV and Meningitis B.

Chickenpox Vaccination Service
Chickenpox can affect all ages, but it's most commonly caught in childhood. Symptoms generally get worse with age, often requiring time off from school or work. This service helps to offer protection against the chickenpox virus.*†

Eligibility criteria:

  • Adults and children aged between one and 65 years at the time of the first vaccination. It's suitable for a wide age range, but the biggest uptake is often for nursery and school aged children
  • Not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women, anyone with a weakened immune system, anyone who has had an allergic reaction to any previous vaccination, or anyone who has received the MMR vaccine in the previous four weeks.

HPV Vaccination Service

Helps to protect against cervical cancer, genital warts and some other types of cancers. This service is ideal for people who wish to get vaccinated against HPV, but are outside the age range of the NHS programme.* The greatest uptake of the HPV Vaccination Service is often from international students, so preparing for this service is key in university store locations.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Men and women aged 12 to 44 years inclusive at the time of the first vaccination.

Meningitis B Vaccination Service

Meningitis is most common in children, teenagers and young adults aged between 15 and 24 years. That's because these groups tend to socialise more at school and university, which leads to the spreading of bacteria. Fortunately, getting vaccinated against the main strains of meningitis is the best way to help prevent the illness.*

Eligibility criteria:

  • Adults and children aged two years and over.

Key actions

  • Make sure you are ready for the increased demand by having your appointment booking diary ready and gathering all the materials you need to deliver the services, e.g. customer information leaflets and/or customer record forms
  • If your store doesn't offer one or all of these services, use the store locator on Boots.com to identify local stores that do, so you can signpost customers. You can also assist with booking their appointment, where possible
  • You can request to offer one or all of these services by contacting the Pharmacy Service Centre team at Pharmacy.Service.Centres@boots.co.uk
  • Lots of services are also available online with Boots Online Doctor; you can signpost customers in store to onlinedoctor.boots.com if they need a service that can be conveniently accessed online.

For more information on the HPV and Meningitis B vaccination services, go to youtube.com/user/Boots and check out the Back to uni video in the 'Meet our Pharmacists' video series.

* Available in selected stores. Subject to specially-trained pharmacist and stock availability. Eligibility criteria and charges apply.
Note that the chickenpox vaccination is not routinely available from the NHS.
Customers should talk to their GP about the vaccination if their child is under 24 months.
